All We Have is NOW

DSCN8441 (copy)

Today I had a huge decision to make, a free day to catch up on either the domestics, due to family arriving this weekend or follow a vibe that I needed to paint.

As you would have worked out by the above painting  my house is still in chaos. But I could not resist turning up the music and following the muse. I have not dragged my paint box out in a long, long time due to my passion for using pencils mostly.

I guess the painting reminds me of Spring and the changing seasons give me the energy to declutter. It didn’t happen today but I’m glad I followed my heart and created this little fellow. I have sketched him before and thought he would look good in paint as well.

I have been revisiting old art to see how far I have come and sketched this crow again too. I guess tomorrow I will behave and get the house in order.

BUT I don’t feel guilty at all, seize the day People.DSCN8436 (copy) My next creative opportunity will be Thursday, thats picture book illustration day. If we don’t grab the moments when they become available, they vanish quick enough.

Whether you are heading into Autumn or Spring I hope life is inspiring you to create. I know nature will never stop amazing me.

Enjoy the NOW, go for it! Create Create Create.

About Minuscule Moments

Everybody has a DREAM. Today is the first day of the rest of my writing life. Its a lonely world out there when you are learning the craft. This year, as the same as last year, I want to finish my first children's picture book. I have learn't many wonderful lessons on this journey. You are never too old to learn.

Seize the day indeed! Good on you, and your little fellow is very beautiful… 🙂

Carpe Diem! You made the right choice Kath without a doubt. We know that the muse can be a capricious master. 😀 The house will get done when it is suppose to and as for the guests remember, “Those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” It was a day well spent! 😀

  3. As Lea declares – carpe diem! It’s so important to trust and follow your muse 🙂 Housework can wait XO

  4. Wonderful choice Kath, because we all know the house will always need cleaning! Taking time for creative moments, soothes the soul. Beautiful colours. 💚❤️ Enjoy the spring.

  5. Loving both of your birds – the painted and the drawn. And excited to hear you seized the moment!

  6. Great post Kath–super inspiring! I needed to read this and so cool about the changing seasons too, because we are just shifting into Fall :))

  7. Eileen says:

Elegant and proud…you captured its essence. And the colors are breath taking, Good choice all the way around!

  8. Audrey Chin says:

Wonderful choice Kath. Follow the muse.

  9. Enjoyed your post, and your lovely artwork. It’s the beginning of Spring over here in Australia. All the best, Janette

Always a treat to see your artwork. You made the right choice to make the most of the moments. 🙂

  11. What a beautiful painting, Kath! The colors are so vibrant! Enjoy the special time with your family.

  12. Both of those are amazing. I’d say you made the right decision to create rather than clean. Go girlfriend!

  13. Sue Slaght says:

I love your attitude! Yes one never knows what tomorrow will bring so seize the moment. The painting really speaks to me, as if the bird may actually turn his head to have a better look at me.

    • Thanks Sue he roams the local bird aviary and comes and goes as he pleases. Last time i went I had hoped to get some full body shots but he did not turn up. Just hangs out in the scrub next door to the aviary and so I hope to run into him again when I go next visit.

  14. So glad to hear you’re seizing your opportunities. Inspiration doesn’t always wait. As it happens, yesterday I spent 7.5 hours editing, so I know what you mean. Your art, which I’ve always thought was lovely and reflective of a great talent, continues to evolve and expand. It’s wonderful to watch.

    • Thank you Christina I wish I could do some writing too but the muse has left me at the moment. I guess its because I am suppose to be creating art at the moment. I do hope to write a book too one day. I remember whilst reading Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert she did mention if you don’t jump on the idea straight away it moves on to another person. I guess once I finish picture book maybe then there will be room for a novel… day Happy editing.

  15. Beautiful art, Kath. And I’m with you regarding nature and inspiration! I like that you have a day for pb illustration. This is the first year that I’m concentrating on more than one creative pursuit and some days I feel like I’m a bit stuck. It’s strange changing up the schedule I’ve had for the last few years! But you’re right, I need to go and create! Happy week to you!

    • Coleen I get stuck too and have to change things around to push myself, i had a daily schedule, a prompting app etc etc. Now I break it down to a 2pm alarm on my phone every day this reminds me I need to do at least ten minutes a day on illustrations…..some days I don’t get there but i can see the pile going down and have about thirteen illustrations to do before i finish first book…..Then the fun begins setting it up etc etc Have a fun creative day your art is unique and very inspirational.

Love that Royal Blue – the colour of my footy team Birmingham City though not nearly as shimmering as your painting. Art and creativity first – work will always wait for you.

  17. Dalo 2013 says:

So true Kath, grab the moment when you feel inspiration coming on…whatever else you think you should be doing do can wait. Great advice and we are all happy you followed the vibe that got you painting. Wonderful work, you talent never ceases to impress. Wish you a great week ahead…

    What beautiful artwork you have!

Now that autumn is on its way to the midwest, USA, I tend to want to take care of nesting projects. However, the holiday season is coming up and I have craft shows to attend and also stores to stock. ACK! What to do?!

Prioritizing is an individual thing. Perhaps it might be better if I pay attention to my nesting instincts, which may (as it has in the past) make me feel more comfortable taking more time with the creative part of my life. On the other hand, being creative may inspire me in my nesting practices. Oh the decisions!

All we can do is answer whatever call is given to us at any moment. Be true, and the results will be outstanding.

    • I agree go with the flow Sara and I have been having so much fun selling my stuff at the markets. You meet so many lovely people, its a buzz. Enjoy the Autumn.

      • Sara says:

So glad you’re having fun at the markets! I still have two, possibly three more before the end of my season. Hope you’re selling some things in addition to having fun – making money is frosting on the cake!

        • Sara I sell a bit of everything, hand painted bird pendants, art cards, bird bookmarks, amigurumi crocheted mini teddies, my original art and my daughters paper flowers. We are gearing up for the next there months as they are the busiest. I meet many bird lovers and when I sell my birds I get a real kick out of it. Learning that variety and something new each month works well. Have a great day.

Housework can always wait. Excellent choice, Kath!
